Curious to find out the best Ayurvedic skin care products out there? I swear by all things Ayurveda and personally I love how Ayurveda has made a grand comeback in the beauty & skin care scene (despite the fact that it has been around forever).
The re-emergence of Ayurveda has also brought along a radical shift in the landscape of the beauty industry. Sounds like I’m exaggerating? Well, no, I’m not because…
…women like you and me are putting their trust in the best Ayurvedic skin care products available in the market and rejecting their old toxic (preservative-laden) beauty products that ruin the skin in the long run. The demand for natural skin care and vegan skin care is totally on the rise!
If you’re on the same page with me and considering dumping your old beauty products, let me tell you…
WHY I ONLY USE THE BEST AYURVEDIC SKIN CARE PRODUCTS
The best Ayurvedic skin care products completely win over mass-manufactured creams, lotions, toners, gels etc. And there are plenty of reasons for that. In fact, almost all the top Ayurvedic beauty brands are run by female entrepreneurs who, at some point of time turned to Ayurveda to heal their skin after all else failed.
As an out and out Ayurveda girl, I’d rather buy from small businesses which focus on sourcing authentic Ayurvedic herbs and preparing their formulations after many rounds of consultations with the best Ayurvedic doctors.
Have you ever had repeatedly disappointing results with skin care products? That’s probably because you’re using something that doesn’t suit your dosha type. And that’s why Ayurvedic skin care wins over everything else…
The wonderful thing about Ayurvedic skin care products is that they’re either customized for each of the 3 doshas (Vata, Pitta & Kapha) or they’re tridoshic (that means they’re suitable for all dosha & skin types).
And I’ll tell you why they’re high value – because they’ve got good enough to eat ingredients (which are often organic, vegan, vegetarian, ethically sourced & forest collected).
And here’s why I use the best Ayurvedic skin care products – each time I’ve had a skin problem, these natural oils and serums have come pretty handy in resolving my skin issues.
MY TOP MUST-HAVE AYURVEDIC SKIN CARE PRODUCTS
Whether you’re new to Ayurvedic skin care or already using it daily, you’re a part of a movement. Yes, by turning to Ayurveda for your natural skin care regimen, you’re playing an important role in the transformation of the beauty industry. Take my word, that’s rad…
When you buy an Ayurvedic skin care product, you choose to nourish your skin naturally (instead of slathering it with a daily dose of chemicals whose names you can’t even pronounce).
While some of the best Ayurvedic skin care brands have been around for more than a decade, others have emerged in the last couple of years. After many of you ladies wrote to me asking me to recommend my favorite Ayurvedic beauty goodies, I decided to put together a list of my top must-have Ayurvedic skin care products:
NY-based Ayurvedic beauty brand Pratima makes handmade skin care products such as oils, gels, powders, face creams and even eye ghee!
Nothing makes me feel better than the heady aroma of essential oils and that’s why I decided to give a shot to this Nourishing essential oil by Pratima. Used by the founder Pratima Raichur herself in her Ayurvedic daily beauty regimen, this oil combines the power of 7 essential oils and is the perfect food for your skin – whether it’s normal, dry or sensitive.
If you’re beginning to see fine lines around your eyes or have dark circles that you’d like to get rid of, try the Saffron Eye Ghee by Pratima. This little jar is filled with luxurious organic ghee, precious saffron and a hint of rose. I’ve been using it for a few months now and can see my dark circles fading away.
Lisa Mattam, the bosslady who runs Sahajan had her ‘aha’ moment when she discovered that her 2 year old daughter was playing with a chemical-laden face cream and had put it all over her face.
Not only did that worry her about what those chemicals would do to a child’s skin, but she also felt like she didn’t want to use such products anymore. Inspired by this incident, she brought out a line of natural skin care after consulting the best Ayurvedic experts in Kerala, where her family comes from.
I found out about Sahajan from some of my girlfriends who’re big fans of Sahajan’s Protective Face Serum. So, I decided to order a bottle and see what the fuss was about. It lived up to the hype – I’ve used this serum through all seasons and love the Ayurvedic superherbs it has – Triphala and Gotu Kola (these two can do wonders to make your skin look youthful).
If you’ve got dry, itchy and sensitive skin that’s reacting to stress, you might want to try Sahajan’s Nourish Face Cream because it can be gentle on your skin and make it supple at the same time.
Check out this review of Sahajan by Daly Beauty to see how much she adored their products.
After having her fair share of skin troubles, Sonia Lloyd, the founder of Rasasara Skinfood, got motivated when she came across these words, “If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your face”. That’s when she switched to making her own Ayurvedic skin care products and hasn’t looked back ever since.
Sonia established her own Australian beauty brand Rasasara in 2003. What I love about Rasasara is that everything they make is organic, vegan, plant-based, paraben-free & sulphate-free (and even edible)!
New to Ayurvedic skin care products? I’d recommend that you make the best out of the introductory starter kits by Rasasara – they have one for each dosha and a separate one for anti-aging.
I am also quite impressed with their tridoshic all-in-one-hair & body bar which has the goodness of my favorite herb turmeric, blood orange and frankincense.
Wondering if this natural skin care brand with be the right fit for you?

4. JIVA APOHA
Trained at the Kerala Ayurveda Academy and School of Ayurveda & Panchakarma in India, Angela Shore, the lady behind Jiva Apoha says, “I have a natural philosophy of holistic wellness and ecological focus that plays into every aspect of the brand; from the organic, pure ingredients to the humane ethics employed every step of the way.”
An Ayurvedic skin care brand specialising only in oils, Jiva does divine smelling roll-ons, face and body oils. I totally heart the Sundara (Beauty) Face Oil which makes my skin feel balanced and replenished. If you’re looking for an oil that is sensual, floral and breezy, I’d say Kama (Love) Body Oil from Jiva is definitely worth a try.
I love how some Ayurvedic skin care products stay true to their ancient Indian roots and Arya Essentials does just that. Shadoh, the founder of Arya Essentials grew up watching her mother prepare Ayurvedic skin remedies at home. But somewhere along the way, she began using the ‘glitzy packaging and chemical filled serums that came in bottles’. It was only after an episode of eczema that Shadoh started questioning her skin care choices.
After realizing synthetic preservatives in her skin care products were contributing to her skin disorder, Shadoh turned to Ayurveda and eventually changed her career to start Arya Essentials. Quite amazing, right?
If you’re looking for a way to deeply cleanse your skin, try Arya Essentials bestselling Botanical Cleanser. Not only does it remove impurities from the pores on your face, but it’s also great for removing makeup.
Looking to soothe your tired eyes after a long day? You might want to try their Intensive Eye Balm before you go to bed for hydration, tissue repair and removing puffiness under your eyes.

Kiera Nachman, the founder/creator of Sundara Holistic, began her journey by whipping up some Ayurvedic goodies in a friend’s kitchen in Brooklyn in 2013. And today, Sundara Holistic sells everything from body oils to bath salts. You know what I love about this brand? Each one of Sundara’s products literally carries good vibes because they’re infused with an ancient mantra and Reiki energy.
Sundara’s all-organic Tridoshic Face Serum is one of their best Ayurvedic skin care products in my opinion. I use it for moisturizing my face after cleansing and I’ve seen how it has been effective in removing a few blemishes I had.
I’m also a big fan of their Vata Rose Clay Cleanser which cleans my skin while keeping its moisture intact.
Connecticut girl Carollanne Crichton, the formulist at Solavedi Organics combines her diverse knowledge of massage therapy, bodywork, yoga, Ayurveda, aromatherapy and herbal medicine to craft the finest line ‘prana-packed microbatched’ Ayurvedic skincare products. Solavedi’s Rosewater Spray is quite popular among ladies who want to hydrate and refresh their skin after a long day.
If you follow an evening skincare routine, then try out Solavedi Organics’ Ayurvedic nighttime repair cream which is made with a long list of Ayurvedic superherbs and a special vegan stem cell blend.

8. Apothecary7 Body Ubtan
One of the best things about working at Apothecary7 is our Ayurvedic skin care range itself (it’s what I like to call small but perfectly formed). A 7-step formula (additional steps launching soon, so exciting!) forms part of a ritual.
A7’s founder Stacey Herbert formulated this high performance body ubtan after a tireless search for Ayurvedic skin care products that didn’t have lightening properties.
Every ingredient in this vegan friendly body scrub is designed to exfoliate and extract dirt from your pores, without being abrasive or toxic. On opening the jar the aroma will take you back to a moment of Eastern promise where anything is possible.
I totally recommend that you activate your ubtan with A7’s specially formulated Tridoshic Ayurvedic Bath and Body Oil.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AYURVEDIC SKINCARE
Any of the Ayurvedic skin care products you invest in should be totally worth it (especially since they’re not as cheap as popular beauty products). So, what should you look out for when buying such a product…
…here’s my 2 cents – check if the ingredients are organic, wildly harvested, forest collected and have no parabens & sulphates. All Ayurvedic beauty brands generally tick 2 more boxes – they offer natural skin care and vegan skin care (although the ones that use ghee are not vegan but still vegetarian).
Once you’ve done that, identify your dosha either by consulting an Ayurvedic physician or doing a dosha skin test.
Whether you buy a face oil or a toner, ensure that it is suitable for your dosha & skin type or else it may not show positive results.
